Amazing Experience as if Time Shifted
Director of the Bettertopia Museum
Please come this way. Watch your steps. Yes, the stone pavement is not real. It’s an image from a projector. We are projecting a city landscape from the Ancient Roman Empire onto the floor and the walls to fit the theme of this exhibition. The sales point of this exhibition is to recreate the space, to make visitors feel like they are slipping into that time. We’ve been working in collaboration with Panasonic. They have been providing a comprehensive solution from projectors and displays to the visual content. From the planning stage to the installation of equipment as well as providing operational support.
Please look at the projector in this exhibition hall. This space doesn’t have much depth, but thanks to the ultra-short-throw lens technology, we can project an image that fills the entire wall.
We are using Light ID technology called LinkRay for the description panels. The light from the LED lighting to the panels contain special signals. When you hold your smartphone up toward the panel using a special app, it detects the language used on the smartphone and matches that language to the display panel. We can also send additional information about the display to their smartphones.
Please take a look at this. People from Ancient Rome are waving their hands. This is also an image from the projector, but it’s human scale. So really realistic, isn’t it? Now they are ready to tell you about their era. You can listen to them using bone conduction headphones. You don’t need to cover your ears, so you can still hear what’s going on around you. So there’s no stress, and you’re safe to enjoy the talk.
Please enjoy the rest of the exhibition. Our museum doesn’t push technology in your face, but we’re always aiming to support and enhance the museum experience for our visitors in different ways so each person can choose what’s best for them. On your way out, you might feel like you’ve become an ancient Roman!
The technology and solutions presented here were announced in the above press release or exhibition. Some are in the R&D stage or are under consideration for commercialization.
